My only rule was that I wouldn't use anyone I'd used before (pic related was my last team). A pokemon I haven't used is just as fresh to me as one introduced in a new game

I could re-appreciate XY a little, because this time I used Mantine, Teddiursa, Chatot, Meowstic Female and Mamoswine (6th spot open) i.e. Pokemon I have never used, or haven't used since Gen 2.

Yes, your point? they are generic because they are good, and there is no other viable electric alternative, the game almost forces you to use Ampharos

My nigga. That's exactly what I'm doing in this run of Yellow version. I just beat Erica and caught Rhyhorn, planning on getting Lapras and Dratini later so my team doesn't end up dreadfully boring.

Those first couple gyms with Raticate and Venonat were a chore, I'm running out of genwun mons to use.

For me, when a new Gen comes out, first time playing through I only use region specific mons, every subsequent playthough is whatever comes up and works.

No it doesn't. In Crystal you can get Magneton, Lanturn, Jolteon, or potentially Electabuzz or Raichu.

Just because you used the sheep doesn't mean everyone has to use it. Ampharosfags are fucking obnoxious.

It seems pretty miserable to use. Quilava is a bit rubbish until it evolves towards the end of the game. Same with Poliwhirl. Flaaffy and Phanpy are fine, but don't have too much variety to them. You'll never get a Dragonite in these games unless you grind a lot and Umbreon has no moves to use.

Also if you have all 6 Pokemon already you'll be low levelled the entire game, meaning you might not even get Typhlosion by the E4.

My egg happened to hatch an Elekid so that was mine, but if it hadn't I would have used Lanturn.

My current Crystal team is: Typhlosion, Poliwrath, Tyranitar, Scyther, Skarmory, and Electabuzz. Just finished the main story, still hunting Entei and then Ho-Oh after that. Team is still in the 60's so no Red for a while.
