PvP ruined Pokémon.

It would have been much better off as a pure single-player RPG so they wouldn't have to make any decisions or do any balancing with multiplayer features in mind.

I do think the recent emphasis on PvP has made the newer games more limited. That's all that's left to do now after the Single Player is done holding your hand.

only reason i still playpokemon is PvP. Thats make its unique from other rpg. other RPG destroy pokemon in Exploretion and story

It would have been much better as the opposite. There's a deep competitive game buried under a bunch of Skinner RPG bullshit. Why are there Pokemon with substandard IVs?

To make each Pokemon feel more individual and unique, but I wouldn't expect a tourneyfag to understand game design centered around lore-friendliness than competitive balance.

PvP is the only thing that pulls Pokemon above its contemporaries on any objective levels, even then if they went all out on balancing for PvP it would result in a more robust single player experience as you and the enemies already play on the exact same rules in single player, if they want to make enemies in-game more threatening give them special rules to rig it in their favor

Unironically agree. They'll never change up the games because any major change would totally fuck over competitive, and the focus is why postgame is weaker and weaker, because "fuck it they can do 3v3's or 4v4's against the same teams over and over."

They clearly design the games with competitive in mind, and they're absolutely infatuated with doubles, so it makes you wonder why there's still only like 3 double battles the entire game. I'm supposed to jump into doubles after the entire game has been singles? Where's the option to play all trainer battles as Doubles?

The only reason the official competitive format is doubles is because doubles is much faster-paced and thus more suitable as a spectator sport.

Singles are a lot slower-paced.

Trading was actually the only original multiplayer stuff, battling was a last minute demand by Nintendo which lead to stuff like how hyper beam worked that wasn't adjusted for PVP until Stadium.
