There are literally VGC players who are angry about the fact that they might have to buy a new console after seven years of 3DS being tournament-legal.

Only problem I have with the Switch is that charging stations are going to be completely packed, and they're going to have to give the Stadium-style option to hide your moves during streamed games.

I'm talking specifically about streamed games. A lot of players actively try to refuse to go on stream out of fear that they'll be scouted and other players at the tournament will see their movesets, so literally displaying them on the stream would be very unpopular.

Megas are being phased out. Sun & Moon didn't add any new ones, and assuming USUM doesn't either, I can see it being a permanent thing in VGC.
It helps prevent every metagame being centralised around the same small number of Pokémon. Megas do tend to make metagames more offensive, though, which I think is one of the reasons VGC17 is so slow and stally.

The problem is that Pokémon already has masses and masses of depth; enough to be seriously intimidating to new players. What they should be doing is balancing it more so that more moves and gimmicks that currently exist are a bit more viable.

Misty Terrain was active so I don't think it would've confused anyway. At any rate, selecting Fini's pinch berry so it confuses common Araquanid builds is probably not worth it insofar you might want it on another Pokemon in your team

Seniors and Juniors were fast and fun, the Masters winner was a very slow player, which is a legitemate strategy but boring as fuck to watch
Juniors VGC was an Oranguru/Gigalith that did great at first but ended up getting fucked by Curse/Recycle Snorlax
Seniors Juniors is nothing surprising so far, standard stuff with one side having a trick room side.

It hasn't collapsed into a single team, but VGC 2017 has been a pretty varied metagame in general (despite the people complaining of too many Tapus or whatever) and I'm disappointed there haven't been any decent surprising gimmicks yet.
Whimsicott is always good fun though, so here's hoping the finals are good.

Sejun dominated that whole match, it was so-so.

This was a real match. Two wholly different teams, complete back and forth all over, you never knew who would win until the very end. I'd even dare to say it is the best VGC finals of them all.

Jolteon is also not fairy. Doesn't have support moves like Sky Drop and can't go physical if it wanted to either. Even if Jolteon got ET Koko would still be the preferred option.
