Pokemon itself can be fixed with more and new developer. The idea of Pokemon is still amazing. Gameplay is shit currently

you only get that long of a period because it was on the 3ds. with the switch there is a lot more competition and other games to consider your marketing around so it is a smaller period of time

Nintendo's quarterly earnings report and forecast as well as HR at Game Freak would like a word with you.

Well, words, technically. Those words being "position will last until approximately spring 2018" and "2018 or later".

It's planned for next year according to both Nintendo and Game Freak, in other words, meaning they're just hedging in case it needs to be delayed for some reason like D/P.
