I'm a fervent believer in the idea that you have more motivation to post a comment or make a thread complaining about something rather than praising something, since resentment is strong fuel. Even if people did like it, their sentiments were outweighed by people who disliked the games at the time. When the focus shifts away to something else (Gen 7), people divert their complaining energies to Gen 7, meanwhile the lack of complaining about Gen 6 allows people to consolidate a more relaxed view of it, or reaffirm their original positive outlook toward it.
It's kinda in the same vein as a suspenseful horror movie. In the moment, you think one way about it (nervous, edge of your seat, afraid of a jump scare) but afterward you think it wasn't scary at all.
