>>33371182It doesn't really do much for me, not in the way you'd expect from a toucan Pokémon. I used to think it was because of how straightforward its design is, but the simplicity sort of works with the whole no-nonsense thing it's got going on. No, it's mostly because the "beak as a cannon" thing doesn't really feel developed enough as a concept. It does the job and it looks pretty cool, but they could have done more with it; it should definitely be much more central to the overall design. Along with its angry disposition, it just feels like a bit of an afterthought to me.
If they had made it a running theme for the whole line so that Toucannon was a culmination of those concepts, it wouldn't feel tacked on. But if you ask me, Toucannon should have gotten its own line, anyways. I know that woodpeckers and toucans are in fact related, but Pikipek feels so removed from its evolutions. Hell, they could have made it a branched evolution, with Trumbeak and Toucannon doing their thing on one side and the other carrying on with the woodpecker theme.
