In GSC, you have two basic archetypes. One is built around the Raikou + Skarmory core, obviously with Snorlax, and the rest of the team are commonly defensive or support Pokémon, but not always. For instance, you often see Marowak alongside a Belly Drum Snorlax on that kind of team. The other will normally be Snorlax, Zapdos, a handful of Explosion users and maybe a sweeper. You could say one is stall and the other one is offense, and the playstyle of any given team is to a great deal determined by the Electric-type you choose to run.
There's also Baton Pass teams, but nobody ever uses Baton Pass teams.
