In USUM only hiker is on volcano top

In anime they anime they outright skipped totam Sazzale.

Is flying trial replacing it?

That was because Kiawe already had a Firium Z.

They also had Ash skip the Water Trial and gave the Waterium Z to Lana instead.

They don't want two members of the main cast having the same Z-Crystal.

So far the Z-Crystals have been distributed like this:

>Ash: Normal, Electric, Grass, Rock
>Kiawe: Fire
>Lana: Water
>Team Rocket: Dark

Yes, because Lana needed to battle for the Waterium, and Ash needed to battle for the Grassium.

But Kiawe already had Firium at the beginning of the series, so there was no need for a Fire Trial. Thus, it was skipped.

Maybe now Wela Volcano has an expanded cave section, and the trail starts at the top of the Volcano, and ends inside and underneath it, maybe in a lava room

I'm fairly certain the Hiker thing is just an extra for when you return to the top of the volcano after completing Kiawe's trial.
