>>33413297>>33413234To give a few examples of common examples where crossups happen as a weavile main:
One of weavile's best tools is a charged 6x, especially in an oki situation after opponent's hard knockdown, double especially in a corner, because charged 6x pierces counter attacks or moves that have counter properties, and if it connects, leads into fury swipes for huge damage that puts them into hard knockdown again, or if blocked, leads into a blockstring which itself can then kept up with jabs and weavile's other moves with good frame data to try to catc them with another string.
So, Weavile's throw out charged 6x a lot. But since it's charged, you get "locked" into the charge unless you release it, and since the hurtbox is only on one side of you, so if the other person makes the read you are gooing to do out of the oki situation (where obviously they can't without getting hit by it), they can jump over and hit you with a move in midair that can cross you up. If you mis-space where to stand to hit them with the 6x if you are lining it up to hit them on their landing to go into the blockstring, they can land behind you and cross you up that way as well
A similar situation exists when using focus/counter attacks, as this explains:
