Having more things to discuss would certainly help. I feel like some people here are burnt out of Pokemon, or feel like certain aspects really annoy them to the point that those negatives are all they talk about. The reason why I say this is because there's a clear difference between being critical or as objective as possible regarding a game, and outright bitching about every little thing and simplifying every positive a game offers as "shit taste" or "shilling".
With only two new games to talk about per year (and if lucky, 3 or 4 if PMD or other spinoffs get made), pretty much everything there is to talk about gets milked dry really fast. Doesn't help that what /vp/ likes about certain games are either a thing of the past and have been discussed to death already, genuinely dead (Join Avenue, for example) or don't have much to talk about anyway (like the Battle Frontier).
There's other things in the Pokemon franchise, too, like the anime, manga, fanmade works, TCG and other stuff, but it seems like people generally either focus on the games or the anime, and rarely mix together. There's also other franchises besides Pokemon that could be played or discussed in-between releases (albeit not on /vp/) but it also seems like a lot of people here exclusively go with Pokemon-related things. There's plenty of people here who only bought a certain system to play Pokemon and never branch out. It'd be easy to get burnt out if one thing is all you spend your time on.
