He didn't box him, Oak asked Ash for Bulbasaur to stay because he can't handle his pokemon and he needed Bulbasaur to get things under control. do some research before talking like an idiot.

Ash's Bulbasaur defeated a Magnemite that Pikachu and Cyndaquil couldn't defeat and tied a Meganium. Also took down Dusclops and Solrock after Charizard and Squirtle failed to do so.. Yeah go box such a pokemon.

Is there any one of Ash's Pokemon that really made you enjoy that particular Pokemon more or at all?

When I first watched the anime I loved the Krabby/Kingler episode and that cemented those Pokemon as some of my favourites, even if they're not that strong.
