Yes Greece is this summer paradise to Tourists, but outside of those 3 or so months we have to deal with 9 humid cold months with nothing but snowcapped mountains surrounding us. Leave the coast, and Greece is very much a Sinnoh like place.
Which is why I want it to happen. If not the main legends, they can make like the Tapu and use the Horai for the background legends, and have the main trio be something irrelevant. At the very least I can see them sticking to their guns after Alola with being culturally appropriate in what they base the lore on(unlike fucking Unova with the Japanese demons), and I would think they would want to use the Dodecatheon in the actual locale and not somewhere random.
Back to the region, like I said, its perfect as a Winter Hoenn. Mainland could mostly be mountainous, with the coastal areas and the surroundings of Mt Olympus becoming flatter. The Islands wouldn't be tropical at all, except maybe Crete being a little more welcoming.
