>>33503810>Blue had no characterYou can say that you didn't like his character, but he had one. He was a smug asshole who wanted to lord his success over you, and had to be taken down a peg. If you count sequels, he also matures and becomes a better person.
>Silver is just an objectSilver puts more emphasis on being stronger, and shuns the weak. You're at odds with him because he disagrees with your training and love for your Pokemon, but his constant losses help him realize the importance of friendship. Plus there's his history with his dad, and the fact that he also grows to be more respectful towards you.
>Bianca isn't a trainerBianca's whole character was that she was unsure of herself and her direction in life. Even her dad doesn't believe in her, and wants to keep her at homes where she can be safe. But when given the chance and encouragement, she becomes an impressive trainer and brings the Gym Leaders to fight off the Sages.
>Cheren is a knock-off of Gary/SilverHe was standoffish and a nerd, but he was still your friend. He valued power, but didn't mistreat his Pokemon. His character arc had him learn that strength and titles shouldn't be his goal, but rather what he could DO with them. Ends up using his knowledge and experience to become a teacher and Gym Leader, helping to guide and shape trainers.
>Hugh is all about PurrloinFirst of all, he wasn't just all about Purrloin. He was also a supportive friend and a good big brother. One of his major arcs was overcoming his blind hatred for Team Plasma, and accept that people can change. This is even more obvious when he finds Purrloin/Liepard and realizes that it doesn't recognize him, and changed. And he had to accept that.
