but it is certainly not a bad game by any means

It depends on what you mean by pokemon game? Of course it is a pokemon game if you define "pokemon game" as a video game with pokemon in it, but it's definitely not a mainline title either.

Incredibly accessible for a fighting game, and still holds a lot of competitive depth.

What makes a pokemon game a pokemon game is that the game makes the pokemon the main focus, and this totally count as one, since you're playing as a pokemon all the time
