While I don't remember exactly how they create the walking illusion, each leg does it one at a time and I guess one leg being in a position causes the other leg to change position.
It is literally a robot made up from aminoacids whose only purpose in life is walking while carrying stuff. It can only walk in straight line and towards the end of the microtubule known as "+" end, which coincides with the end of the neuron's axon.
