The real reason why Z Moves are not a good idea is that it makes things predictable.
See an Eevee? It has a Z move.
See a Kommo-o? It's gonna have a Z move.
See a fucking Pokemon that isn't that great but has an extremely useful move to help with Z Power?

With Mega Evolutions, they become better. But now? you know that something is up, there's gonna be some dumb gimmick. You can KO the Eevee before or right after it boosts (and in some cases, still outspeed it.) With a Mega, you have to think about many things. What if it doesn't have one, like Scizor? What if it's a different Mega? What if the Mega is not special/physical? Will the person Mega instantly? (This happens not with just Sharpedo.)

They are but Z Moves in the long run just aren't well fleshed out. The best usage I've gotten from it is using Z Focus Blast for a quick kill, and that's it.

You're talking only about pokemon-specific z-moves, which is literally the same situation as most megas: see a lopunny? it's gonna be mega. See a manectric? it's gonna be mega.

At least every pokemon except unown can use breakneck blitz, but only one that is already strong can use mewtwonite.

How many Pokemon players have you seen with a Z Type crystal? I did mention before I had Z Focus Blast but that is it. I've never had a need for it except for weird setups like Z Growl and Z Leer in VGCs, as well as the usual Z Conversion from Porygon. Z Moves also are horribly handled due to certain effects of moves not being shown, as well as boosts (If you use Z Growl for example it only tells you that the user's defense went up but doesn't show unless you check their stats.)

Can't wait for the DNA splicers to become something any kid can wear, or making Shadow Pokemon with SE moves on Non Shadow Pokemon into competitive scenes.
