I'll never understand the massive boner for following pokémon, is it so much of a deal to have a shitty model/sprite follow you and slow you down anytime you try to use the bike?

I think the models were just made for the Pokemon print club thing in USM, so you could photograph the Pokemon walking or running. The feature may have just been cut from SM.
