Electric is probably the worst monotype overall, because of how same-y the type is. It's pretty rare for an electric type to be anything but a speedy special attacker with poor coverage (or occasionally a bulky special attacker with poor coverage), so you usually wind up with a team of Pokemon who all do the same thing.

Platinum is probably the easiest game to do a bug run of. Getting Scizor, Vespiquen, Heracross, Yanmega is great, and other alright picks like Mothim. Can even get stuff like Kricketune, Beautifly and Dustox for early-mid game

What I do is:

Most difficult type to mono depends on the game. For example, fire would be the hardest in DP but it wouldn't be that bad in something like XY (earlygame Fennekin, Fletchling, Litleo and Charmander)

I've run mono for every type except ground, fire and electric. Rock gave me the most trouble. Great offense, shit accuracy. Also defense is great against shit like normal types but I was absolutely butt fucked by anything rock is weak to.

I've never done a mono-run before but because of this thread I decided to try.

Playing ghost monorun in Plat was fun...until I got to the final fight with Cyrus. Weavile murdered me a few times until I lucked out enough so that my Dusknoir's will o' wisp hit, so that Weavile's night slash wouldn't do enough damage to kill my Gengar, and also hopefully not crit, and then hopefully hit weavile with my focus miss. This whole thing failed more than I liked.

Made me really like dusknoir. And my boring flying run in HGSS made me really like Yanmega.

depends entirely on the game youre playing and what mons you use. what tends to be the problem in using monotypes is coverage and that every mon has the same coverage. leading to some battles you ust spam 1 mon and the rest get weaker.
from my experience tough ice, normal and dragon are the hardest. ice alone makes for a bad typing aside from offensives and theyre mostly frail as shit if youre up vs a fighting type/rock type gym who tends to come early. Normal lacks coverage early on because its mostly normal/fight/dark moves all over.
and dragon because theyre usually pretty weak and rare in the beginning, and to make matters worse some even evolve after youre done with the league level wise

Normal is easy, you get coverage out the ass and birds too.

Ice is probably the worst as there's always so few of them in a game and most are really late. Same with Dragon. Bug could be bad in a game without a Bug/Rock Pokemon like Crustle as Fire and Flying just completely fucks most Bug mons.

Poison is easy in many games, but I could see it being rough as fuck in Unova. Scolipede, Amoongus, and Garbodor are your only options in BW1.
