What could logically follow an AU origin story

Muh (((patterns))) are gone.
They could go literally equally direction.
They could go back to normal Ash and friends in the present anime formula but odds are just as likey they could use mcs from the games or even just start doing 100% original stories. We could even see Looker.

All we can be sure of is it'll be focused on Alola.

We're just done with stage 1 of SuMo. Stage 2, Plus Ultra is just around the corner. No idea what its gimmick will be though. Every stage has to have a gimmick after all.
