You can still train a geodude in HG/SS
The only issue is you can't use mud slap because it is no longer a tm, I dunno why they removed that
It was super useful against whitney

You have four options
Get a female starter and grind it all over before the fight
Get a female machop from a trade
Use a pidgey leveled enough to sand attack her shit (or mud slap her shit in GS) and this way it is almost guaranteed that she won't be able to hit shit
Or the last is to use low level pokemons so they can take the attracts and sacrifice them so your high level can score a hit, then when it is attracted you switch it again, repeat
That way you get 4 hits and you are likely to win by that point

I replayed Crystal like a year and a half ago and I gotta agree, if only because Gengar and Haunter outspeed about everything at that point and hit extremely hard. He is also kind of chance though because his main strategy was hypnosis then dream eater and hypnosis has like a 60 accuracy so sometimes it hit, sometimes it didn't. I beat both Gengar and Miltank by just spamming dig with best starter though.

I forget where,but they give you a TM for dig around that point. Cancels her stupid rollout . Her using Attract was not automatic either so you wait until she doesn't do that and then use dig to end rollout.

That machop's gender must be random because I used that in my first playthrough as a kid a fuck long time ago and I remember it being female. I wasn't planning on using it the whole game, but I loved how easy it was to level up given it was a traded Poke and got boosted XP. I didn't know about that at the time, but I freaking loved it.

I remember being forced to use Togepi, eevee + dig, or over level to beat Morty. i used togepi to soak up the ghost type attacks while i recover because togepi couldnt harm the ghosts back either.

I trained a fucking geodude to graveler and did set up with the defense curls and she still kicked my ass once thanks to the cpu doing a bullshit critical
Another time she killed my machop anyways, despite it being well trained with another crit in the 5th rollout
Is like the cpu loves to fucking troll you specially in this fight because you steamroll the game otherwise with 0 white outs (maybe with Claire though)

Whitney's considered hard because she's one of the few GS battles that can't be brute forced. You normally don't need to pack a specific Pokemon or move to win a battle, or think too hard about move mechanics.

If you didn't find her difficult at all, then the rest of the game is going to be piss easy for you.
