Why was Ash's Charizard such a manlet compared to the other ones seen in the Valley?

Speaking of which, we can assume he's one of the strongest now, right? He's beaten multiple legendaries since.

This part never made any sense. Ash's charizard was so strong it literally dominated the indigo league and only lost because it was too easy and he didn't feel like trying. It already went toe to toe with aerodactyl and blaine's magmar proving it was at least as good as a top tier gym leader's ace.

If his charizard was weak for a charizard, why didn't one of the trainers in charicific valley just enter the pokemon league and sweep everyone?

There were no trainers. All the Charizards were wild Pokemon except for Chala and Ash's.

Ash's Charizard is young, the others in the Valley are probably a lot older.

Pic related is an elderly Charizard who belonged to Kiawe's dead grandfather who was the Kahuna of Akala before Olivia.

Remember the games claim that no single wild pokemon is ever stronger than a properly trained one.
Unless we pretend that Ash was really that retarded and trained him badly (which may be a possibility though).

The games say that a wild pokemon of the same species and level as a trainer raised pokemon won't be as strong (which is technically true because of the evs it gains along the way).
Nothing said Ash's Charizard's level was anywhere near the level of those wild ones.

Alain's regular Charizard was very weak. He always needed the mega evolution to get shit done. So regular Charizard would probably job as bad as Ash's did.

Is mega evolution really that much of a boost, though? Alain's fought 10 megas in a row with no real advantage over them, fought and held it's own against Groudon and Kyogre in their primal forms, standstill vs a mega evolved champion's ace, and held Zygarde 50%. Most of the times, he's fighting the absolute top tiers in his mega.

I don't think mega evolution was ever that big an increase, especially in the anime.

But Ash didnt train his charizard because Charizard did what the fug it wanted. I think that's the entire point. Ash always thought zard is super strong even after it started obeying, and charizard itself believed to be invincible or something. This was simply a wakeup call to both that zard needs training and the best place to do that is that valley
