If they went back to releasing it way earlier in japan, it'd be basically impossible not to know who the champion is, who the evil team leader is, anything that people will latch onto and make into a meme because it stands out, or anything significant about the game. You would have to quarantine yourself from the internet. Just look how many people started talking about Incineroar in the latest movie over here when it released in japan, or how many people freely mention stuff from the anime before it even has subtitles.
Besides, regional beta testing's obsolete when they can just release a patch over wifi. Japan gets enough stuff early or exclusively as is. The main burden's on the localization team to translate it. Not much else of substance changes between localizations, hence the "choose your language" at the start of the game.
