Maybe Nexcrozma as we know was 2 Pokémon to begin with, the black Prism Armor and the 'Star' Pokémon inside it
Maybe the black armor is a corruption/ virus/darkness? that resulted from the corruption of Necrozmas Dimension/Ultra Space, the red and Black Portal and the inside look pretty weird and distorted
My guess is Necrozma is trying to get rid of that virus controlling it and the only other Pokémon with similar powers is Solgaleo and Lunala
In USUM the cure succeeds and it will be free
It makes sense, think about Sun light, moon light and STAR light

I don't think it's a new form. It's probably cool box art making Necrozma out to be more mysterious than it is. Dawn Wings and Dusk Mane are the only forms we're going to get.

also why would they split necrozma into two different forms and then decide to make an ultimate third form in the same game? That's the reason why we never got the original dragon

Not a theory, but imagine if they do give Necrozma its complete "light" form, but its type depends on the mascot it possessed. For example Light Necrozma after possessing Solgaleo=Psychic/Fire. After possessing Lunala=Psychic/Dark. I chose these types mostly to go with the idea that the 3rd legend in a main trio always had some sort of advantage over its duos.
