Psychic shouldn't be magic though. In fiction, Psychic Powers are usually distinct from magic. Why is Game Freak lumping magic into a type that is generally seen as more sci-fi than fantasy?

Better question, what the fuck is wrong with this line? Drowzee diddled an azurill in mystery dungeon, hypno's captured or assaulted children on multiple occasions. If pokemon were real, the hypno line would've been intentionally driven to extinction or at least made extinct in the wild like several old diseases.

If I lived in the Pokemon wolrd I would totally have a team of Pokemon like Weavile and Hydregion dedicated to hunting them to extinction.

Dark is quite literally just the bad things we otherwise associate with the Psychic, Fighting, and Fairy types. Had fairy been around in gen 3, I can almost guarantee you that Sableye would've been a dark/fairy type instead of dark/ghost.
