Last night I was playing Red version so I could transfer Zapdos to Sun. I had it paralyzed and caught it with my first poke ball.

As a child I would regularly find shiny Pokémon, 2-3 per play through of a game. In LG I once found 5 in the span of 24 hours, including a zubat, diglett, nidorina, sentret and cubone. But I can never find a shiny in the most recent game that came out. I didn't find a shiny in ORAS until the day before Sun and Moon came out. Still haven't found one in Sun, but caught a shiny Swinub the other day in Soul Silver.

I restarted it, choose Rowlet again. It was a shiny female Rowlet. I still debate and even calculated what could be the chance of finding a shiny female starter only with 1 soft-reset. But I love my shiny Decidueye!

I did the same when the Torchic event started. Luckily my Torchic was female. The shiny I hatced was female too. So I had one within a week of the event starting.

Later on, I did some trading and got a hold of the other HA Hoenn starters. Now I have the trio in shiny with their HAs.

That Salandit could've been almost any other mon, assuming optimal circumstances, and still shiny.

Like if you had a female Salandit in day care holding the destiny knot, you were out of luck anyway. But if the father or ditto has it, you could've taken out the Salandit and thrown in something you'd like a shiny male of and gotten it. I've swap bred my last few hatched shinies while mass IV breeding.

Would really love it if they'd make a Nature Capsule.
Hyper Training and Ability Capsule already made half of the crappy Shinies I've held onto usable.
A Nature Capsule would fix the other half that are still pretty awful.

This is 100% false and no one should worry about it. There are two retarded but true things about Colo that contribute to this being spread.
1. Actual shiny pokemon appear with normal textures with sparkles on send-out but have shiny portraits. They keep looking normal until purification.
2. If an NPC has a shiny pokemon, it doesn't mean shit because the game hashes (or whatever) the PID to a new one based on your ID pair.
In a similar way to gen 6/7 eggs hatching shiny depending on who hatches it and not just depending on individual values, shininess is derived from NPC IDs to calculate a static (as in if you catch it during post game cleanup the pokemon will always have exactly the same stats because you've encountered it before) PID for the pokemon as owned by your player character. If it's shiny at catch time it stays shiny.

TL;DR nothing like that happens on purification.

I EV trained that Skarmory and it looked shiny as a shadow pokemon. Just want to clear up all the myths about shiny shadow pokemon. Also you can't SR for something like Suicune by KOing it and resetting for it at a later point, since the shadow pokemon is permaset after the first encounter unless you reset

Last year I was trying to finish my living dex and all I needed was a Diancie, which nobody was trading and, of course, was the sole mythical they didn't run during that year of mythicals. I made a random offer in some thread to breed anybody a shiny of their choice for one, and someone wanted a female Snorunt for their shiny ghost collection. It took like a week and one male shiny but I did it and got the Diancie.

Then during my regular story playthrough of Moon, I just happened across and was able to catch a shiny female timid Snorunt for myself. No HA or egg moves, but oh well.

Just today I was going through and hatching a few boxes of random extra eggs I had piling up, because I'm about to reset my game and didn't want to potentially delete something worth banking. Got a shiny female Espurr. Garbage stats, garbage nature, garbage ability, but it was never going to be competitive anyway so it doesn't matter. I'm gonna use it in my Ultra Sun team. Shiny Meowstic's colouration was a pleasant surprise.

I played SoulSilver last month just for fun and got two random shinies in the playthrough in the same week, a shiny Rattata at the beginning, and a shiny Venonat at the bug catching contest.

Considering I got 7 shinies in 10 years of Pokemon, including those 2 which I got in the same week, I don't think I'll ever top this.

That's funny--I also have a Shiny Psyduck (now a Shiny Golduck) and a Shiny Gloom from the Safari Zone in Ruby, but unlike you, I wasn't lucky enough to catch them both during the same session.
Planning on eventually Hyper Training the Shiny Golduck since its Timid. Will probably never do anything with the Shiny Gloom since it's Adamant.
