In SM's release, the legality checks for Safari Ball Pokemon has been messed up, and only accepted Pokemon that appeared in the Kanto Safari Zone (not even crossgen evo versions of them) as legal, despite Hoenn, Sinnoh and HGSS Johto having their own Safari Zones with their own encounters. XY didn't have this problem at all.
