a. There's only one of him, so there's only one dumb character fixation to roll my eyes at
2. He battles you fairly often, instead of just holding you up for the sake of holding you up damn near every time you meet him. Holy hell I wanted to punch something when Shauna dragged me to the fucking retarded "spooky house" on Route 14 this run.
iii. He actually has decent interactions with other characters, like Gladion calling him out or him calling out Faba for being an idiot. There was never a time when I felt like the XY group added anything positive to my playing experience.
Still, I'm going to Freeshop Moon after I finish up my Mono-Rock of Y to see if Hau is worse than I remember.
