Question Regarding Virtual Console Ports of Pokemon

In the virtual console ports of Red, Blue, and Yellow, is it possible to trade via online communication? I want to be able to evolve my Pokemon without having to be next to the people I'm trading with.

Apparently you can't. From what I've found online you can only trade over local wireless, meaning the person needs to be next to you. Only friendless option is buying two 3dses.
