Both Cosmog and Necrozma are unable to tell friend from foe. Cosmog is extremely oblivious and just walks up to anything it sees, that would even imply something as eerie looking as Necrozma and Necrozma just attacks everything in sight on its search for light, which it feeds on, though that's also whats causing it pain, hence the head clinching animation. It's probably mostly dead and unconcious aswell, but how much is for USUMs story to decide.

Maybe the light from the flowers was it's food back in UB space? We'll DEFINITELY be going back to his space at some point and I'll bet they're there. Bright enough to calm him down, but not too bright that it gives him a headache.

It's a reference to a famous scene in the movie adaption of Frankenstein where the monster comes across a girl picking flowers at the lake. When she sees him, instead of being afraid, she offers him one of the flowers. It's one of the most iconic scenes in the movie.
