What pokemon seem out of place in the franchise for you?

I've always felt that hitmonlee looks out of place. I started with gen 1, and lots of gen 1 mons seem to have some silimarities in design, but hitmonlee always seemed so alien with its weird beany body, no mouth and these limbs. Looks pretty creepy to me desu

I used to think they were flattened stone tablet-like things, but seeing them as inklike flexible noodle things just makes them look like some cartoon gag.

They look weird but not too weird like the UBs. They look more like FF7 Weapons than deities like Giratina and Arceus. Never was quite sure what to think of these guys.

Looks more like an artifact than a Pokemon, even if it is a UB.

Since the Lusamine resemblance hasn't been officially acknowledged, I can only assume it was a red herring, scrapped plot point, or coincidence. If we ignore Lusamine, it just looks like your average waifumon and/or humanoid Bug-type and I don't get why its design was chosen as an Ultra Beast.

All of the Ultra beasts. Not even baiting here. Buzzwole is the only one that remotely looks like it fits in with the other Pokemon but even then it really doesn't

Araquanid and more or less it's evolution line. I love that unnerving design they have, but in a gen where it is introduced along side a presentation slew of UBs who expressly attempt to invoke alien designs, Araquanid doesn't feel like it is a pokemon rather a UB.

Most of the other obvious ones like the gen 4 box legends have been pointed out already. I always though reshiram didn't look like a pokemon, but that could be personal taste. Zekrom's fine.

Lickitung for me, it looks really out of place and from another game, from Monster Rancher maybe. It's probably because this dude is rare in the first games so unless you watched the anime it feels kinda forgettable and weird.
Also that bald head unnverves me.

I know I'll make people mad by saying a gen 1 pokémon doesn't look like a pokémon, but damn look at this fucking thing.

Saying that it looks like a "fursona" when Ruby/Sapphire came out in 2002 is ridiculous, there's nothing really wrong with Zangoose, the red markings are supposed to represent "scars", same thing with Seviper, since they're rivals.

Ultra beasts are Pokèmon.
Pokèmon is short for Pocket Monsters.
Pocket Monsters can look like anything and be based off anything.

A lot of the Sinnoh legendaries were a mistake.

The only decent designs were Cresselia, Darkrai & Shaymin. Giratina JUST gets away with having the hideous beady eyes the creation group have, but the other three are abominations, mostly because of their faces.

Anything after gen 2 starts becoming very out of place for me. Even some pretty crappy mons in gen 2 as well. I liked some designs for the later games although largely I don't like most of them.

I like Hitmonlee. He isn't out of place at all to me. He has that limited color pallet that always reminds me of the series I used to know. No random spikes, black lines, strange limbs and other crap like that you often see in modern pokemon either.

I meant those weak looking limbs on some of the animal looking pokemon. Look at Fennikin. It doesn't even have paws like Vulpix does. I don't like how the designs after the first gen games kept getting increasingly strange like that. That is mostly what I meant by strange limbs.

Tympole is good and you can see where they're going with the other two, but their drum theme just aren't prominent enough to make the line stick.

Personally I always really liked Hitmonlee because of how strange and odd he looks. To me that is what a humanoid Pokemon should look like, as opposed to something like Mr Mime which I thought was a much worse design.

To answer your question, I think that most of the Pokemon after Gen 3 don't really look right to me. There are some great ones, but the overall design scheme is just not quite right and doesn't really say "Pokemon" to me.

Pretty similar aesthetic to the UBs in this regard.
Just further solidifies the creation trio probably being UBs.
There might also be a connection between the tao trio and the creation trio because of the similar design philosophy.

The weird thing about Hitmonlee is how differently it's depicted in the games and in the anime.

His eyes are totally different and its limbs work in two different ways: like an accordion in the aertwork(games) and like a spring in the anime

For me, it would be all of the "main" legendaries like Zekrom, Dialga, etc post Gen III other than Zygarde.

The other mons don't bother me as much even if they do look strange in the Pokemon universe.

Pokemon like Throh, Sawk and Hawlucha; Pokemon designed around a human sport/fighting style have always bothered me. I don't feel this way about pokemon like Breloom, Hitmontop, or Mienshao since their physiology accomodates for their fighting styles.

Also, Murkrow and Honchkrow to a lesser extent. Did their heads form in the shape of a hat? Or do they just have really dense plumage?
