Anyone else go through a time of being completely uninterested in this series? Gens 6 and 7 really brought down my hopes for the series, and I have zero hype for USUM at all. It's unfortunate because I absolutely love Pokemon.
How'd you get past it? What brought you back?

Just take a break from Pokémon and play some other games. Eventually you'll miss the series and will get back into it with excitement.

There was certain time in my life. The only video game I played was Pokemon. Then I just took break and played other games and took break from Pokemon

Not being apart of hype season but just going into launch day and pick up game not knowing what's in store was very fun.

So yeah occupy yourself with different games other than Pokemon

Gen 4 as a whole completely killed my interest in the series, though HGSS was good for a first time play. Got straight back in with Gen 5 because my lack of interest caused me to not even know that Gen 5 existed until after it had come out, and seeing some Unova Pokemon excited me to give it another try by experiencing the new region and all its designs with the only prior knowledge being the few I had seen -
Hydreigon, Litwick, Pidove and the base starters. You should definitely take a break and try to avoid all news of Gen 8 when it comes around if you're burnt out and need to reignite a spark.

I did. Shortly after XY's release I got out of Pokemon for several years for other interests. Eventually those interests waned around the start of this year. At that time SM was everywhere at my usual haunts and my old interest in Pokemon resurfaced.

Came back to /vp/ to find that the board is somewhat faster than what it was once but mostly the same.

Same with me, but I didn't play gen 5 until BW2 was almost out. Then I basically marathoned the two blind, it was a great way to get back in the franchise.

I kind of want to try Platinum one day and give gen 4 another chance, but not if we'll be getting remakes in a few years.
