Ice becomes defensively viable and dampens one of the most common offensive typings just a little, Fairy gets checked, Steel/Psychic types lose their Dark weakness, Bug becomes better offensively, and Water loses its near perfect security while simultaneously boosting one of the worst offensive types.

I could see Electric instead, but Ice makes more sense to me. Have you seen what happens to super cooled metal? It's literally the most efficient way to fuck it up.

That's a minor nerf to an already pretty decent all-around type. Flying isn't the most common of offensive typings, and you're not going to leave a Flying type in on an Ice type if all you have to throw at it is Brave Bird.
