Not sure if this has been talked about, but we finally seem to have names for the Gen 7 protagonists.
Until now, the only names we had were Sun/Moon/Elio/Selene which were placeholders shown only in the demos (which we know for a fact don't use canon names) and in the trailers for things like Battle Royale.
Unlike every single Gen before it (except the first), the protagonists didn't show up as NPC's so we didn't get confirmation of their actual canon names, leading people to just use the placeholders. But these are no more canon than "Leaf" is.
However this time we have a recurring name that is being used in clips from the story, and the trainer ID. I believe that these are supposed to be the actual canon names.
