Not the same guy, but I didn't like HG/SS as much either. Music was ruined by the Gen IV soundfont making the original punchy tunes sound flat and uninspired and even the GB sounds item weren't even close to how it actually sounded on the GB. I've heard youtube remixes sound so much more on point. The protagonists design went from sharp and interesting with an almost futuristic look to bland and lifeless with modern and doofy aesthetics... and goddamn capris. Kris was also replaced with an entirely new character that was not engaging in the slightest, had the worst design of a playable character (until BW2's playable palm tree came about) and had no significance outside a couple of forced interactions that were shoehorned in. They also came at the tail end of Generation IV with nothing really new added since Platinum, they failed to fix the level scaling and Pokemon variety problem the original games faced which could have been fixed with better pacing and a missed opportunity to not only expand the Johto region and flesh out it's story a bit more with new events and battles happening, but they also failed to expand Kanto back to it's original size or even bother to add more to it. It was nearly a verbatim carbon copy of GSC that only looked prettier with a few more dialogue boxes. The only cool new feature they added was with walking pokemon and that was immediately abandoned in the next generation exactly one year later. It was such a letdown and up until a while ago I would have said if they waited until this current gen or even the switch gen to do a full on 3D remake they could have done it better justice, but with how GameFreak is currently handling US/UM, I don't think they could.

This is (somewhat) wrong considering they added back Seafoam Islands. But that was it, I think. I forget if Moltres was in the expanded Mt Silver.

You know what? I was waiting for Crystal, too, but the more I think about it, the less I want it or GS.
My old games don't save anymore, but I can still play them, and on TV with the GameCube.
I don't care about HA legendaries because I don't use legends to begin with.
I can't think of any other 2nd gen mon with a HA I really need. 2nd Gen starters with HAs were already given away as a bank event. And I've already caught everything 2nd gen has to offer, anyway. Very little reason to buy these games.

Only plus side for me is being able to transfer up the team I journeyed with to SM. Hate to say it, but I get easily attached to pokemon, and I'd be pissed if I'd have to leave them in 2nd gen, just like I was when 2nd gen wasn't compatible with 3rd gen.

It's not that $10 is a high price, it's that its $10 I can spend on something more worth my time. I still have my SoulSilver cartridge, and it is a better game in almost every conceivable aspect, and I would still rather play Sun/Moon than that unless I was really jonesing for some Battle Frontier. As it stands, buying GS on VC is effectively throwing $10 down the drain for me, and I am just not interested.

Conversely, for some people, it is well worth the $10, and that is fine.
