What's the general vibe here about stuff like Yo-kai Watch, Digimon, or MH Stories? Can they live with the pokes, or must they be eliminated?

I haven't played Yo-Kai Watch, so I can't comment on it.
I fucking love the Digimon games. They're very different from Pokemon and have two distinct series of games that are both a lot of fun to play.
MH Stories I love and put over 30 hours into the weekend it released, but judging from sales in Japan, it's probably already been eliminated.

Everyone was shitposting that Yo-kai watch would replace Pokemon in the west, until the games actually came out here and people realized they were pretty mediocre. Now people are pretty apathetic toward it. Digimon and Pokemon have both been around long enough to peacefully co-exist.

I don't hear much about MH Stories. It might be a Dragon Quest Monsters deal, where the main franchise isn't nearly as huge in the west as it is in Japan, so it won't really take off.

i love competition. its good makes them try harder. problem is yo kai watch is absolute garbage. its just doubling down on kids with that game. Dont see any really currently giving pokemon any competition in this genre

I don't think anyone but Hasbro reps ever believed that. Even Bandai, the ones who made it didn't think it had hope in the west due to cultural irreverence.
