he isn't going to direct remakes because ORAS were his games leading up to his ascension as a mainline director who will take over from Masuda. As of SM, he's now the new mainline director and remakes usually don't directed by mainline directors (unless the games are their debut before becoming one)

Masuda directed RS AND FRLG, that's his debut as mainline director because Tajiri was still the one for gen1-2 (even though Masuda co-directed crystal with him)

Tajiri stepped down by then, just like Masuda is stepping down now.. I don't really remember or know for sure, but I think him directing FRLG has to do with the fact that Emerald released the same year and the B-team was working on that with a non-main director instead
