the nature just depends on the amount of experience the pokemon has when transferred through poketransfer. it's the last 2 digits of the total experience. there are lists online.

honestly it's pretty good as is, you could run an agility and/or SD set. Only real problem is no aqua jet, but if you go for double dance or agility + 3 attacks you won't need it anyway.

Looking to make a Johto version of Red's team for my playthrough for fun. Basically a team of regional counterparts. So far it's:

-the 3 Johto starters: for obvious reasons
-Sudowoodo: counterpart of Snorlax, both are the regional roadblock
-Umbreon: opposite of Espeon

What should the last one be and why? I was leaning towards Ampharos, as it's the early route electric type to mirror Pikachu, but I'm open to other ideas.

Yeah I meant after bank, I'm not touching GSC ever again probably after I finish this VC version and then transfer over all the Pokemon I can get by myself to the bank. Last I heard you can catch 199 Pokemon by yourself without trading, but more than that using the clone glitch. So that's my goal.

Red Gyarados but Feraligatar is already a psyhical water type.

I'd suggest Dragonite too, technically you could get it in Crystal as a gift.

Togetic also works since you get it from an egg.

Third versions aren't definitive because it's one version, but because they add things on top of the originals and knead out some of the kinks.

Unfortunately the Togepi line in gen 2 is as bad as it gets. It can't get special STAB off its main types while its attack is awful, and the learnset is unbelievably bad.
You can do I think Sweet Kiss/Dream Eater set, with Encore and whatever else.
