>>33640991The more pokemon they create the more useless many of them will end up being. You can't have a game with hundreds, soon to be a thousand monsters and expect them all to be good. People will just stick to the few that are good. Having so many legendaries does this franchise no favors either since it is pretty much "mandatory" that they have the best stats compared to "lesser" pokemon.
I'd also argue that when it comes to single player using anything besides the quickest and hardest hitting pokemon is only going to drag out your playthrough even longer then it would be if you just went for fast strong pokemon to build your team with.
To be quite freaking honest here the gameplay of Pokemon doesn't even really lend itself well to a defensive playstyle. Multiplayer battles is a whole other thing but I would still argue that because of the mostly 1v1 nature of this franchise and how battles are structured it does seem to favor a certain playstyle above all.
