There are some people online who said the only reason they came back to watch the anime was for the two SM episodes about Misty and Brock. And now that Misty/Brock are leaving they're going to quit watching again.

And these same people didn't even watch AG/DP either despite the fact that Brock was still there, only because Misty was gone. Why do some people refuse to watch Pokemon without Misty?

Very few. A lot of these people said they didn't like the SM characters coming to Kanto with Ash, they were hoping for only an original trio reunion. It's pretty obvious these people don't care about the current show or Ash's new friends. I have seen some Misty fans say they like Lana because of their interactions or both being water pokemon trainers, but that's it.

I know it hurts but pre xy/xyz era ashnime was utter shit and sm is really well made, I watched [almost] all episodes [hated mallow episode or dugtrio one, but oranguru ep was good with her not being annoying]

You're talking about SM's animation. Outside a few standout episodes, SM's episode plots are pretty dull and not much different than the fillers of any previous saga.

These are people who outgrew the Pokemon anime OP, maybe even the Pokemon franchise as a whole. The way you are framing your post leads to the interpretation that these people aren't watching the Ashnime just because it doesn't have Brock or Misty, which couldn't be further from the truth. There are people who just picked this up again to have a little nostalgia session and would most definitely not stay around if, for example, Brock and Misty went back as cast members permanently.

Not being able to realize something so simple makes you a truly special kind of autist.
