I'd like there to be a pokemon that evolves at every level so that you have to hold b to prevent it from evolving single time it levels up if you want to keep the old one. I think this could work with a pokemon that gets worse when it evolves. it's like you have to keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't evolve.

the ought to retcon out the retarded evolutions like stones in regions where theres only one of each, friendship, trade, trade while holding item, trade between 2 certain pokemon, turning the console upside down, beauty (which they did), affection with fairy move, holding item during time of day, rain, gender with stone, knowing ancientpower, another specific pokemon in party, and personality value

The reason you cannot get the a cross-gen relative in old games is because it used something that wasn't introduced yet (happiness, new items, places don't exist [Kanto and Johto still don't have a place to get the two Eons or Magnezone/Probopass; Hoenn got retconned in ORAS), that kind of stuff

They should make a 'Trade Stone' that you can get a maximum of 2 of per game. Trade evolutions promote trading, so they should stick around.

Because a lot of them require silly gimmicks to be added to later games since they were supposed to be a one-off thing in their respective gen. It's fun in their respective game, but as gens go on, the amount of gimmicks add up and it becomes a massive chore.
The ones that first come to mind are Leafeon and Glaceon that evolved at a specific location.

Because the story in these games typically take you up through to level 50-60, and it would be dumb if every Pokemon was fully evolved by level 30ish. They just need to distribute them properly, like making Pokemon that don't evolve until higher levels only available in late-game locations so that they're already most of the way there when you catch them. They could also just not make the unevolved form shit, or make eviolite available earlier on for these types of situations.

Or use the in-game trades constructively and make them mostly used for getting trade evolution Pokemon. It doesn't have to be all of them, but at least a few. It's so rare that they give you trade evo pokemon through these lately.

It made sense when shit like Alakazam and Golem were the strongest shit around, but now it's just pointless.

Specific location evolutions are easy to implement, though. GF are just too lazy to do things right, every single time. Every fucking region has a snowy area and every fucking region has at least one forest. The availability of these evolutions is tied to the areas which complicates the matter slightly but giving the player more freedom to explore the world as they want to rather than as the story sees fit is something that should've already happened

Or make Trade Evolution opposite to Friendship.

When you trade a Pokemon you resets it's firendship stat, so if Pokemon evolve when is happy, some should evolve when are angry/sad/feel alone.

For Karrablast and Shelmet they should make them evolve when one gains level and both are in party.
