What's the issue? You'll already have a full team of 6 by the time you reach Kanto. And if you need to grind against wild Pokemon at any point in the game then you're a retard who finds a kids' game difficult.

For kanto I had:
Venusaur, magmortar, rhyperior, feraligatr, yanmega and dusknoir

It is a meme. There's only one noticeable level jump in the game, for the ultimate final boss. All of kantos leaders baring one are under or on par with elite 4. You have also the brevity of new trainers to fight along the way. You also don't have to have your whole team of 6 be five levels higher either. Then there's battle items and, strictly gen 2 and not remakes, badge boosts.
