how do I get this nigga Heracross in Virtual Console Silver?

I've literally every day since it launched trying to find this nigga Heracross. Scoured the internet for many different tuts and explanations, tried following them all. Stayed on one tree for hours on end or went through all trees on one route multiple times to no avail. Yes, I've been in mountain areas.

Now I finally gave in and decided to ask vp.

Any help?

I seem to remember getting a Heracross behind Kurt's house in Azalea when I was a child, but that is conflicting with what I've read about mountain areas.

Also trying to find it. Help would be appreciated.

But that's wrong. Ingame it fucks shit up with Megahorn + EQ, competitively RestTalk Heracross can be quite threatening.

You can get it in Azalea Town in Crystal.

There's no trick to it. If you've actually scoured the internet for "tutorials" you'd understand how it works and why he's hard to find and I don't get why you'd think there would be some sort of special trick beyond that. If you're on the right tree, he has roughly a 1/3 chance of showing up. Headbutting the same tree over and over again won't make him show up if he isn't in it, and if trying multiple trees didn't help, you just didn't try them for long enough.

Megahorn and Earthquake are both endgame/postgame moves, the former being learned at level 54 and the latter not being available until victory road. Heracross does well enough because he has a high attack stat, and his barren movepool is otherwise filled with normal-type attacks in a game where all normal-type attacks are physical, the first badge boosts attack, and the third badge boosts the power of normal-type attacks, but it does mean you're just going to be using the same move over and over until the end of the game, be it Megahorn, Take Down, or Strength.

It doesn't learn Megahorn until you're pretty much done with Kanto. For most of the game it will be a shitmon.

Why does everyone overlook the fact it can have both headbutt and fury cutter before the 3rd gym? It's not the best but 125 base attack it ridiculously strong for such an early game mon.

Horn Attack will be Heracross main attack for a while, but you can teach it Fury Cutter to sweep weaker teams. By the time Horn Attack starts to lose efficacy, it will gain Counter and Take Down, so it'll continue to be a hard hitter. However the real fun starts when it learns Reversal because by spamming Take Down you can easily put Heracross in the red and unleash a 150 BP STAB Reversal on everything. Finally once you reach Mt Silver you can grind the few levels you need for Megahorn and oneshot Red's Pikachu even if you are 27 levels below it(unless it uses Charm).

TL;DR: Heracross is good in gen II

It's at least twice as effective at killing shit than anything else you'llittle have at that point in the game. And fury cutter gets ridiculously strongand can sweep after 3 uses.
