>>33660616It was extremely rare to see threads complaining about B/W. It was generally well recieved by /vp/ as a whole. However, the main issue actually comes from GF's actions over the past few years.
Before B2/W2 were released, /vp/ was expecting a Grey version. After the reveal of the sequels, there was an interview that said that they did sequels because it was different from doing a straight third version. B2/W2 were extremely well regarded by /vp/ and they had hope for future games.
The biggest issue with third versions now is actually due to S/M. X/Y were okay but lacking in post game, and OR/AS had burned many with the model of the Frontier. People were expecting Z, but we got S/M instead. While this seems like a complete improvement, it implies two things. First, Game Freak sees X/Y as complete. Second, and most importantly, they have started to move away from third versions.
I feel that US/UM would be more accepted by /vp/ if Z had been released. But considering the drought of information and the split into two versions for the same of the day and night gimmick, people are unsure what to think of it. It doesn't help that things like new Pokemon and new areas should be easy to do in this day and age as DLC instead of buying the game all over again.
