Gen3 - Sand Stream
Gen4 - Phy/Spc split which allows it to use Dark stab moves from it's higher attack. Sand boosts Special Defense of Rock types by 50%.
Gen5 - Infinite Sand Stream
Gen6 - Mega
Gen7 - Prankster Nerf

Sand Stream has been infinite since gen 3, gen 5 just made it more valuable.
Also in gen 6 the Steel type nerf helped making Crunch more spammable.

Tyranitar is just good.
It's primarily a physical attacker but still functions just fine as a special. It can set up hazards and has sand stream. Doesn't matter how many weaknesses it has it really only needs to be there one turn to do the most basic part of its job.

Some gen 2 mons were indexed in gen 1's code but had nothing but those indices. That's where some of the glitchmon came from, iirc. If you traded them to gen 2 they'd appear as actual gen 2 mons.
