>>33662708It handles Pokémon availability so poorly though. The Friend Safari has very little thought put into it compared to distributing individual Pokémon across routes and encountering them through special methods. I think that making so many Pokémon available as just simple grass encounters also hurts. Sinnoh Route 201 and Kalos Route 2 have the same amount of Pokémon available on them, but Sinnoh is that high because of dual slot mode, the Poké Radar, and swarms, all of which are post-game features and give every route a large amount of replay value along with Vs. Seeker rematches and Super Rod. I know this isn't a universal opinion since so many people want as many Pokémon as possible available as easily and as early as possible, but I'm not one of those people. I don't want bloated distributions across every route. I want deliberate placements and methods to encounter Pokémon at a steady pace across the entire game.
Take a look at Valley Windworks as an ideal location.
>Bidoof (grass)>Buizel (grass, new)>Pachirisu (grass, new)>Shellos (grass, new)>Shinx (grass, Platinum)>Drifloon (special weekly encounter)>Electrike (swarm)>Elekid (dual slot, DP)>Mareep (Poké Radar)along with a good amount of surfing and fishing encounters. Shinx being added in Platinum doesn't necessarily add to anything since it's available earlier, but it fits thematically with the other Electric types and fills the missing Elekid's spot. If Sinnoh is remade, I expect to see Pokémon like Blitzle or Dedenne available through other special methods. But it would be pretty lame if they were all just regular grass encounters.
