I've got a little redundancy going on, but I couldn't not include Empoleon. He was my favorite Pokemon since I was a kid and is still up there now.
>>33673395I've thought of each main course as teaching a skill that ends up being used later on, without it being literally what the subject of the class is.
For English, it's meant to help build up skills of getting your point across and wording things to strengthen your argument, as well as just understanding the rules of the language itself.
For History, it's meant to build up the skill of seeing what happened in the past and figuring out what not to do, as well as questioning the credibility of information that's given to you and finding examples to understand the world and others better.
For Science, it helps the skill of trying different things to reach the same endpoint while also teaching you what the world's rules are and why things happen.
And for Math, it helps build up problem solving skills and trying to become more efficient/finding shortcuts for any other issue you may have with life.
Of course, the effectiveness of all this depends on the teacher. I loved math when I was in school, but that's because I didn't get stuck with shitty math teachers who made it completely boring and dreadful.
