>>33681358I like it. I think it's it's short-sighted for people to bitch about the typing when all three Fire/Fighting starters are very different in design. Blaziken's the kickboxer, Infernape is the speedy fists of fury type, Emboar is the heavy wrestler.
That plus I like the Journey to the West inspiration. I also see a lot of people complain about the markings on the stomach but for me it invokes certain gold patterns you'd see on some old Chinese clothes and such which fits the motif.
It's just too bad that generally speaking, slow Pokemon just aren't that good without the perfect storm of typing and great defense stats. Flavor-wise I like its movepool though, Heat Crash fits the theme really well and Scald on a fire type is cool. Wish it could make better use of those moves but it's not like you'll be using Emboar competitively anyway so you might as well go with a flavor set. If Megas ever come back it'd be cool for them to encourage use of those two moves somehow.
