The E4 and the Champion were much more competitive with mega evolved pokemon.
There was a Zygarde cell collection quest with Sina and Dexio - they met me and battled whenever they checked my progress, and eventually I went back with them in the postgame to a refurbed Lysandre Labs to create Zygarde Complete.
They had a huge Episode: Volcanion too - at first I was pissed when the Power Plant was the same, but it all opened up for the post game story where we have to deal with a disturbance caused by an unruly Volcanion! Such fun.
It was great to see the friends boosted too. Serena and Trevor had mega evolved pokemon (including ORAS mons!), while Shauna and Tierno had higher powered pokemon as well.
They also upgraded those ride pokemon - it's like they're gearing up to make that a big deal in the new games? There were more options for Surfing pokemon and for traversing different terrains.
I really enjoyed Pokemon Z, they really put a lot of effort into it!
