>>33690627It depends a lot more on what you're looking for, and how consistent you want things.
I'd say Gen 1 is pretty consistent in terms of designs, like a lot of Pokemon are solid 3/5s or 4/5s, with a few great designs (Charizard, Arcanine, Haunter, Rhydon) with a few shitters (Voltorb, Exeggcute, Seel, Jynx).
On the other hand, if you take something like Gen 6, it's not consistent at all. It has some really great Pokemon (Pangoro, Tyrantrum, Trevenant, Noivern, Gogoat) but a lot of shitters as well (Spritzee line, Swirlix line, Binacle, Quilladin, Sligoo and Goodra, Klefki, Bergmite line). Everything in more recent generations is either really awesome, or really shit. There's not a whole ton of in between.
