What is it about Gen 1 that's so perfect? Despite its flaws, it still have this special aura to it that no other generation shares (other than maybe Gen 2). I like all Gens, don't get me wrong, but Gen 1 is so fucking perfect.

Except you're treating Gen 1 as a masterpiece in its own right. Compared to nearly everything that came after it, it legitimately just does not hold up.

Gen 1 didn't age well, and its remakes are better in nearly every aspect. Grow up.

FRLG are unironically the worst games in the entire series, swine.

Gen 1 isn't a masterpiece. I said it has flaws. But it has enough charm that you forget those flaws more often than not. Also, a Gen isn't just the games. You're not taking into account literally everything else that happened with the Pokemon franchise from 96 to 99.

I think it's because they didn't know what they had going. Like it was new to them and us but now it's formulaic, sure they improve on it but ultimately it's the same beats just arranged a little different.

Is your nostalgia. If everything going on with Pokemon during that era adds to your love of gen 1 then it's beyond clear your love is just nostalgia.

Don't get me wrong - Gen 1 has a certain simplicity to it, from its era of gaming really. All the added stuff the series (mega evolution, new pokemon, contests etc) is controversial for some, and distracts from simple goals outlined in the first game.

And its that simplicity, combined with the nostalgia that makes the gen feel perfect. But its not sadly, gen 1 had a LOT of flaws.
